Officially the Republic of Estonia, a Baltic country of Northern Europe. The Gulf of Finland, with Finland beyond, lies to its north, and the Baltic Sea, with Sweden beyond, to its west; Russia borders it on the east and Latvia on the south. Besides the mainland it has two larger islands, Hiiumaa and Saaremaa, and over 2,300 other islands and islets along the Baltic's east coast.
