An archipelago in the English Channel off Normandy's coast, in France. It is split into two Crown Dependencies: the Bailiwick of Guernsey, made up of Guernsey, Sark, Herm, Alderney and some smaller islands, and the Bailiwick of Jersey, the largest island.

Group of uninhabitable rocks
Also called the Paternosters, a group of rocks where no one can live, in the Bailiwick of Jersey, between Sark and Jersey. Grève de Lecq, in Saint Mary, is 6 km (3.7 mi) to their south, and Normandy's Cotentin Peninsula 22.4 km (13.9 mi) to their east. At high tide only three or four stay above water: La Vouêtaîthe, La Grôsse and L'Êtaîthe.

Castle on a tidal island in the parish of Saint Helier, Jersey
A castle and tourist sight on a tidal island in Saint Helier parish, Jersey. Work began in the 16th century, when cannon had grown so powerful that the old stronghold at Mont Orgueil could no longer defend the Island, and St Helier's port was open to attack by ships carrying cannon.

Fort, used as a leisure centre, in Jersey, Channel Islands
A fortification of the 19th century, now a leisure centre, on Mont de la Ville in St. Helier, Jersey. It stands close to the fortified South Hill Engineers Barracks at La Collette and looks west over the harbour and the 16th-century Elizabeth Castle.

Church in Millbrook, Jersey
Also called the Glass Church, an Anglican church at Millbrook, Saint Lawrence parish, Jersey, in the Channel Islands. Built in 1840, it is known for the glasswork by René Lalique added afterwards.

Officially the Bailiwick of Jersey, a self-governing, autonomous British Crown Dependency in Northwestern Europe, 14 miles (23 km) off north-west France's Cotentin Peninsula. Its main island, Jersey, covers 45 square miles (120 km²), the biggest of the Channel Islands. It is not a sovereign state, but it runs its own legal, fiscal and government systems, and so is seen as a small nation or island country.
