An island of the Lesser Antilles' Leeward Islands, in the Caribbean's northeast, lying approximately 300 km (190 mi) east of Puerto Rico. Since 1648 its 87 km² (34 mi²) have been split roughly 60:40 between France and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, though more people live on the Dutch side than on the French.

Mountain of Saint Martin in the Caribbean
Also called Pic du Paradis, the top of a chain of hills in the Collectivity of Saint Martin, a French overseas collectivity on the Caribbean island of Saint Martin. At 424 m (1,391 ft), it is the island's highest point. BirdLife International recognises it as an Important Bird Area (IBA) for the island's native forest birds.
