It is very common there, gathering in vast shoals in the epipelagic zone at depths down to about 200 m (660 ft). In the warmer months it stays near the surface and close to shore, arriving on the coast in spring and leaving as the weather cools in autumn and winter.

Fresh-water species of fish

The steelhead is a sea-run (anadromous) form of either the Columbia River redband trout (O. m. gairdneri) or the coastal rainbow trout (O. m. irideus); it usually spends two to three years in the ocean and then returns to fresh water to spawn.

Extinct giant shark species
Otodus megalodon, usually called megalodon, an extinct giant mackerel shark. It lived between the Early Miocene and the Early Pliocene, from roughly 23 to 3.58 million years ago (Mya). It was once put in the family Lamnidae, as a near relative of the great white, but it has been moved to the extinct family Otodontidae, whose line split from that of the great white in the Early Cretaceous.

The genus Betta has over 70 species, but it alone is called "betta", thanks to its worldwide popularity as a pet; Betta splendens is among the world's favourite aquarium fish for its many colourful forms and the relatively little care it needs.
