Also called the Komodo monitor, a large reptile of Varanidae, the monitor lizard family, found only on the Indonesian islands of Gili Motang, Gili Dasami, Flores, Rinca and Komodo. Its largest surviving population is in Komodo National Park, in Eastern Indonesia.
