Earth's highest mountain
Earth's highest mountain above sea level, called Sagarmāthā in Nepali, Chamolangma in Sherpa and Jomolangma/Čhomolangma in Tibetan. It stands in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas, and its summit marks part of the border between China and Nepal.

Also called Mount Godwin-Austen, the world's second-highest mountain, 8,611 metres (28,251 ft) above sea level, after Mount Everest, at 8,849 metres (29,032 ft). It stands in the Karakoram, partly in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir and partly in the Trans-Karakoram Tract, administered by China, in Xinjiang's Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County.

A large massif in Greece near the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea, on the border of Macedonia and Thessaly, between the regional units of Pieria and Larissa, about 80 km (50 mi) southwest of Thessaloniki. It has 52 peaks, and deep gorges.

A mountain of the Alps on the main watershed and border between Italy and Switzerland: a large, almost symmetrical pyramid in the wider Monte Rosa area of the Pennine Alps. Its summit, 4,478 metres (14,692 ft) above sea level, is one of the highest in the Alps and in Europe.

9th-highest mountain on Earth
Called Diamer in Shina, the world's ninth-highest mountain, its summit 8,126 m (26,660 ft) above sea level. It lies just southeast of the Indus River's northernmost bend, in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, and is the Himalayas' westernmost major peak; if the range is taken, traditionally, to lie between the Indus and the Yarlung Tsangpo/Brahmaputra, this mountain anchors its western end.

Africa's second-highest mountain, after which the country of Kenya is named. About 150 km north-northeast of Nairobi, the capital, and only 16.5 kilometres south of the equator, it has three highest peaks: Point Lenana, Nelion and Batian.
