Ecuadorian volcanic archipelago
Volcanic islands of the Eastern Pacific, straddling the equator some 485 nautical miles off South America's mainland, to the west. As Ecuador's Galápagos Province they were home to just over 33,000 people in 2020.

UNESCO World Heritage Site in Vietnam
A Vietnamese national park, listed by UNESCO as World Heritage, in the communes of Minh Hóa and Bố Trạch in the centre of Quảng Trị Province, on the North Central Coast, some 500 km south of Hanoi. On the west it borders Laos's Hin Namno National Park, in Khammouane Province, and from its border point it is 42 km east of the East Sea.

A national park and World Heritage Site in the Indian state of Assam, spread over the Nagaon, Biswanath, Sonitpur and Golaghat districts. On the edge of the Brahmaputra River, it is made up of dense tropical moist broadleaf forest broken by tall elephant grass and by marshes around many beels.

Volcanically active archipelago off the northern coast of Sicily, Italy
Sometimes called the Lipari Islands, or Lipari group, after the biggest of them: volcanic islands lying off Sicily's northern coast, in the Tyrrhenian Sea, whose name is said to honour Aeolus, the mythical lord of the winds. Those who live there are called Aeolians.

Interlocking basalt columns in Northern Ireland
Some 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, formed when lava welled up through a fissure long ago, in the Paleogene, when the North Atlantic Igneous Province was active there. They are in County Antrim, on Northern Ireland's north coast, roughly three miles northeast of Bushmills.

A natural region containing the largest tropical wetland and the largest flooded grasslands on Earth. Most of it lies in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, but it reaches into Mato Grosso and parts of Paraguay and Bolivia.
